People often talk about the visit of Pope John Paul the Second as a significant moment in Irish history, but fifty years ago the visit of John, Paul, George and Ringo was also rather important for many.
A series of twelve lectures will take place from tomorrow in Trinity College to mark the Beatles' two shows here on November 7th 1963. It would seem that Beatlemania is still running wild in Ireland and so the Sunday Show decided to look at the Beatles' cultural legacy here.
Dr Daragh Downes, from the School of English in Trinity College Dublin and Stephen Kennedy, co-director of the Dublin Beatles Festival, which will run from the 7th to the 10th of November, joined Shane Coleman and John Waters in-studio today to share their love of The Beatles and to ponder the staying power of their work five decades on.
