It’s a regular oversight in the men’s room - someone who uses the urinal, but then forgets to wash their hands. Doesn’t matter if they are in a rush or just plain lazy - etiquette and basic hygiene have been well and truly compromised.
This common occurrence obviously caused particular upset to designer Kaspars Jursons, who has now developed ‘tandem’ - an all-in-one urinal and hand-washing tap. The tap and the urinal are, of course, separated by a divider.
If you’re wondering whether this just causes more hygiene problems than it solves, Jursons has that covered: the tap is operated via sensors to ensure hands won’t come in contact with any unwanted contamination.
While 'tandem' might solve one issue, there are likely to be other pressing concerns related to urinal etiquette that will need to be addressed in the near future. One New York Times journalist attending a recent Google conference wrote “as I approached the line to the restroom, I took a deep sigh, thinking that I might find some respite from the hundreds of cameras strapped to people’s heads at the conference.
“Yet when it was finally my turn to approach the rows of white urinals, my world came screeching to a halt. There they were, a handful of people wearing Google Glass as they relieved themselves.”
It has been suggested that wearers should move their ‘Glass’ to the top of their head to avoid any such awkwardness.
