The state of Tennessee is adding an extension to the 'good samaritan' act which will allow people to save a dog trapped inside a car.

The extension is being put in place after a citizen found himself behind bars for doing exactly that. As of yesterday if you see an animal trapped in hot car in Tennessee, you can save it.

It's an interesting addition and is a problem not just in the U.S. but here too in Ireland. The law in America also allows someone to break into a car to save a child should they be in discomfort or danger.

Speaking to WRKN the Chief of Staff at the Nashville Fire Department, Mike Franklin, said that you will not be at fault for saving the life of a person or animal.

"If you act reasonably, as any reasonable person would respond, you will not be at fault to save a life. You will not be at any fault to save a life and or animals," Franklin said.
