Three children have been killed and six more people injured in a knife attack at a school in the Hubei province in China, according to state media reports.
The attack took place on Monday morning at Dongfang primary school in Shiyan city.
According to reports from the Xinhua news agency, a man stabbed eight children and an adult before taking his own life. An investigation is currently underway.
There are reports that the man in question had carried out the attack after the school “refused to allow his daughter to register for new term.”
A teacher and five other children were injured in the attack.
This is the second school attack in China this year and has led to a call for improved security measures in school. School guards are currently not equipped to deal with such attacks.
