Gardaí at Pearse Street in Dublin are appealing for information after a mugging in the early hours of Thursday morning.

It happened near the junction of Merrion Street Lower and Fenian Street at around 2.30am.

A man was assaulted by three males in their late teens - he was struck from behind and knocked to the ground, and suffered minor injuries.

Property was taken from him, which has since been recovered.

One of the men involved is described as being of Asian ethnicity.

The victim followed the three teenagers, who then got into a Silver Ford Mondeo taxi on Merrion Street Lower, which then drove in the direction of Baggot Street.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for this taxi driver or anyone with information to contact them.
