The top toys for this Christmas have been revealed in Dublin. Robotic puppies and flying fairies will be among the most-wanted, along with the old favourite Furby.

This year marks the first time the Dream Toys event has been held concurrently in Dublin and London. It is part of the Dublin Toy Fair, which takes place in the RDS from November 27th to December 1st.

The list is selected by a panel of buyers that represents 80% of toy retailers across Ireland and Britain.

Frederique Tutt is a global toy industry analyst with The NPD Group. "This festive season, we expect to see a slight increase in toy spend compared to last year" he said.

"Much of this growth is going to be driven by a combination of innovation and technology in the sector. This is good news for the toy industry as 2013 has seen a soft performance so far, thanks in part to poor outdoor toy sales due to Spring’s bad weather, and the absence of a summer movie blockbuster" he added.

Gary Grant is from the firm that puts together the list and has been selling toys for three decades. He says new toys borrow heavily from the old favourites.
