The latest QS World Rankings which were published today show Trinity College Dublin has fallen to joint 71st place, dropping ten places.
However, another Dublin university, University College Dublin, has held its position at 139.
NUI Galway, on the other hand, has improved its position, moving up four places to tie for 280th place.
Meanwhile four of the 10 best universities in the world are in the UK, with Imperial College London sharing second place with Cambridge.
