One of two cousins charged with burglary at a house, where a man was found dead on Thursday, told gardaí he was "really sorry" the man had died, a court has heard.

20-year-old David Casey, of Carragh Park, Coolock, Dublin 17, and 32-year-old Michael Casey, with an address at Bay 9, Clonglong Halting Site, Limerick, were brought before a special sitting of Limerick District Court this afternoon.

They were charged with two other counts of burglary and one count of causing criminal damage all on the same day.

Both men were each charged with entering the home of John O'Donoghue at Toomaline, Upper Doon, Co Limerick last Thursday, and stealing €200 worth of jewellery, and £30stg.

A post mortem carried out on Mr O'Donoghue's body has confirmed he died of a heart attack.

The court heard David Casey told gardaí: "I'm really sorry for the death of that man," when charged with the four offences.

The two accused men were remanded in custody to appear in court again next Tuesday.
