UPC to block customers who try to view child pornography

UPC says it worked closely with the government and gardai in the last few months to establish a system of banning access for people trying to view child pornography.

The internet provider is to block customers who attempt to log onto websites containing child sexual abuse material - whether deliberately or mistakenly.

Gardai are to provide the company with a list of internet addresses containing child pornography.

An advisory message will be displayed on screen outlining the reasons for the restricted access - where cases arise.
