Dubliners can donate to a leading homeless charity this afternoon just by using there phone.

On-demand car service Uber has come up with an app called 'UberGiving' - and is calling on people in Dublin to download it to donate items like clothing to the Dublin Simon Community.

Between 12pm and 6pm, people can request the 'UberGIVING' option on the app.

A car will come and collect goods and donate it to the homeless charity free of charge.

Cian Kennedy of Uber Dublin organised today's drive:

Sam McGuinness, CEO of the Dublin Simon Community, said: "The donations we will receive from Uber passengers are extremely important to the people who rely on us, as we always ensure that we can provide clothing and other items to help people accessing our services, from when they first arrive at the door; often with nothing."
