The Junior Finance Minister has hit out at the Sinn Féin leader, saying "victim syndrome has engulfed Gerry Adams".

Simon Harris is calling on Deputy Adams to answer questions about whether known child sex abusers were moved from the North into the Republic by the IRA.

It is claimed up to ten individuals were relocated to parts of Donegal, Dublin and Louth.

On the Sunday Show, Deputy Harris said the public has a right to know the truth:

Deputy Harris also says he feels Mr Adams has been engulfed by 'victim syndrome':

Sinn Féin Senator David Cullinane says he has no knowledge of sex abusers being moved by the IRA into the Republic:

At a speech in Belfast yesterday, Mr Adams said the case of Belfast woman Maíria Cahill has been unfairly politicised by Sinn Féin's opposition and some media commentators.

He called on former IRA volunteers with any information on sexual abuse allegations to contact the "PSNI, An Garda Siochána, Social Services, the HSE or any of the advocacy groups or helplines which deal with sexual abuse cases," as they are "properly equipped to pursue these matters."

Mr Adams said Ms Cahill had made serious allegations about him and other Sinn Féin members, and explained while he is very mindful of the trauma she has suffered, he and the others she has named reject these allegations.

He claimed the allegations "have been seized upon in the most cynical, calculated and opportunistic way" by Sinn Féin's political opponents.

A poll in today's Sunday Business Post shows Sinn Féin support down three points, while another shows Gerry Adams' personal support down seven per cent, in the wake of the Mairia Cahill allegations.
