The World Health Organisation has changed its guidelines on sugar consumption in an attempt to combat obesity and tooth decay.
Experts say we should ideally slash our daily sugar intake five per cent, half of the previous recommended daily intake of 10 percent.
The sugar experts count in that includes not just the more regularly cited sugars in soft drinks and sweets, but also those sugars found in honey, fruit juice, beer and even savoury foods like ketchup. Ketchup is seen as a product that carries somewhat phantom sugars, in that many people will not realise each tablespoon contains one teaspoon of sugar.
