A Wexford Councillor is calling on the Government to give county councils permission to introduce VAT rebate schemes.
Michael Sheehan says the proposal aims to give local authorities a mechanism to attract particular types of businesses into their area and to rejuvenate town centres.
The Fianna Fáil politician says the scheme would give qualified firms the chance to get a VAT rebate for three years up to the value of €10,000.
