But as they look to retain the World Cup and win an unprecedented fourth straight World Cup title, there are many doubters.

First off the "boring" tag and a lack of goals in qualifying has been raised, while the crushing defeat to Brazil in the Confederations Cup final is being used as evidence of a decline.

However, renowned ESPN and Radio Marca writer and commentator Eduardo Alvarez joined us on the line on Episode 6 of Team 33 to preview Spain's World Cup title defence and he pointed a number of reasons why the doubters are being too hasty.

He runs the rule over Diego Costa's selection, tells us why Xabi Alonso's return to the side will make La Roja the team to beat again and why he believes Spain can go far.

But he also told Richard, Joe, Dan and I why their decision to base themselves in Curitiba may end up being their biggest Achilles heel in Brazil.

On Episode 6, we also preview Argentina and the other Spanish-speaking South American challengers with The Mirror's expert Ed Maylon, as well as an run through the joys of World Cup tie-in video games.
