Political Background:
I am a member of Cork County Council and Fermoy Town Council, having been elected to both in June 2009. I topped the poll in the Fermoy Electoral Area for the County Council with 2,559 votes, and came in second in the election to Fermoy Town Council with 284 first preferences. Upon taking my seat in Fermoy Town Council I was elected Deputy Mayor.
I am a member of the Fine Gael party, having joined while a student in UCC in October 2001. Within Fine Gael I have been an officer at Branch and Constituency level, was President of Young Fine Gael from November 2004 to February 2006, and was a member of the Fine Gael Executive Council from November 2004 until July 2008, when I resigned to focus on my local election campaign.

Interests:
I am a member of a number of sporting, voluntary and political organisations including Bride Rovers GAA Club, East Cork Referees Association, Rathcormac Scout Group, Rathcormac Coursing Club, ASTI, History Teachers Association of Ireland, Association of Geography Teachers of Ireland, Amnesty International, Fine Gael and Young Fine Gael.
County Council & Town Council Nominations:
Through my membership of Cork County Council I am a member of Avondhu Blackwater Development, Cork Local Sports Partnership, and County Cork VEC. I am a member of the Boards of Management of Coláiste an Chraoibhín (Fermoy), St. Fanahan’s College (Mitchelstown) and Carrigaline Community School. As a member of Fermoy Town Council I have been appointed Chairperson of the Town Leisure Committee.
