100 high-tech jobs are being created in Cork. Canadian firm eSentire is opening a European headquarters and security operations centre there.

The positions include security forensics analysts, as well as software development and sales professionals.

The jobs will be created over the next five years.

The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs through IDA Ireland.

eSentire provides threat protection to mid-sized firms with advanced cybersecurity capabilities.

The security operations team detect and mitigate threats 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

eSentire has grown rapidly - more than tripling its size in the last three years.

Mark McArdle, CTO of eSentire, said: "We evaluated several locations within Europe to expand our business and establish an EU base to better serve our clients on both sides of the ocean."

"We were extremely impressed with the technical talent in Cork and the ecosystem the government has helped to develop to fill the skills gap, specifically in the demanding and competitive field of cybersecurity," he added.
