A Vietnamese man has been arrested following a significant drugs seizure in Co. Galway this morning.

They uncovered a sophisticated hydroponic cannabis cultivation factory and seized cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €100,000.

A 47-year-old Vietnamese national was arrested under section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act.

He is being held at Loughrea Garda station and can be questioned for up to 7 days.

The scene is now being preserved pending the arrival of the divisional Scenes of Crimes Unit.

Galway Gardaí say the search is part on an on-going operation into illegal cannabis growing.
