A bank manager has secured a High Court injunction stopping his dismissal over allegations of misconduct.
Christopher Giblin, who works in Irish Life and Permanent at College Green in Dublin, was summarily dismissed in December over allegations about transactions on accounts in his own name and in the names of his wife and mother in law.
After 30 years with the bank, Christopher Giblin said he was shocked to be let go and claims his dismissal is null and void because it is in breach of fair procedures.
The father of four from Belmont Gardens, Donnybrook says he acted openly and denies any wrongdoing.
While Irish Life and Permanent denies it has acted unfairly, Ms Justice Mary Laffoy has ruled in favour of Mr Giblin – giving him an order restraining his dismissal until the outcome of a full hearing.
She found he has a strong case and that damages would not be an adequate remedy.
However she’s allowed the bank place him on special leave with full pay and has urged both sides to seek an alternative solution by appointing a neutral person to mediate.
