Family and friends mark Geoghegan anniversary

Today marks the first anniversary of murdered rugby player Shane Geoghegan.

The 28 year old was shot in a case of mistaken identity in Limerick on November 9th last year.

Family and friends of Mr Geoghegan will gather today for a mass to mark a year since he was shot dead after watching a rugby match with friends in Dorradoyle.

The private mass will be held at Garryowen rugby club where Shane worked as captain.

Last month the Shane Geoghegan Trust was launched at the club by Sunderland chief Niall Quinn.

A 24 year old Dublin man, charged with his murder will stand trial at Central Criminal court next April.
