FG front bench gives backing to Kenny

Enda Kenny’s been fully endorsed as leader of his party.

It follows a meeting of the Fine Gael front bench.

Topping their agenda was the spectacular departure yesterday of George Lee and the strength of those “mutterings” concerning Deputy Kenny’s continuation as leader.

Newstalk’s Political Correspondent Paraic Gallagher explains from Leinster House.

“Well, after just under two hours of a meeting here, the Fine Gael frontbench broke up” he said.

“The Chief Whip Paul Kehoe has told us that party leader Enda Kenny got a full endorsement from his front bench”.

“A number of people did speak in relation to the George Lee issue, but the message coming from the party is a very united one – they are united behind Enda Kenny as leader of Fine Gael” he added.
