Tanaiste to meet with Kraft over Cadbury

The Tanaiste is to meet with Kraft management this weekend to put together a business plan for Cadbury.

It’s emerged more than 1,200 Cadbury workers in Ireland face a three-month wait to learn about the future of their jobs after the announcement of the takeover.

Kraft says it’ll have its individual country plans in place by May 3rd, at which point the future of its plants in Kerry Coolock and Tallaght will be known, any re-structuring will be complete by August.

Newstalk’s Chris Donoghue says there is a glimmer of hope for workers.

“Mary Couglan will meet with Kraft management in the next couple of days, I think over the weekend in fact, to put together a business plan for Cadbury” he said.

“Things have been going on behind the scene that the Tanaiste early on this week tasked Enterprise Ireland with meeting Cadbury management”.

“Kraft had manufacturing plants already in the UK and Cadbury had manufacturing plants – so that is a real pro for the Irish operation, the fact that there isn’t this doubling up which the UK has” he added.
