Jerry O’Sullivan

From Kenmare in County Kerry Jerry has worked in radio since May 1997 when he joined Radio Kerry as a staff reporter in the newsroom of one of Ireland’s most successful local radio stations which has a reputation for quality current affairs and sports output.

In his four years there he reported on the news, presented and produced both current affairs shows including flagship show Kerry Today and covered sports on the weekend including commentary of GAA and Soccer and sideline reporting on Kerry’s outings in the Munster and All Ireland championships.

Following a year out to travel abroad, Jerry joined the Newstalk sports team as a sports reporter/reader in April 2002. Soon after he began producing and presenting the weekend sports shows, building the programmes from scratch and developing Newstalk’s live sport coverage.

What is the greatest invention of the last 100 years?
The slow motion replay..it’s a tie between that and Penicillin.

What’s the best advice you have ever heard?
Never read while drunk – it’s horrible.

What has been your worst moment on air to date?
Calling Welsh rugby player Allan Bateman – Allan “Batman” – happened 10 years ago and am still getting stick.

What would you call your autobiography?
It has to be said.

Which 3 guests would you invite to a dinner party (from past or present)?
Michael Collins, Maj Richard Winters 506th PIR US Army (WWII) and Natalie Portman.

Bringing sexy back.
