One person has died and several are reported injured after an explosion in Paris.

It is believed a fuel tank exploded in a car park near the famous Ritz Hotel.

The blast occurred at 4pm local time on the first floor of the three-story car park. Local media says the explosion collapsed part of the ground floor of the garage.

It happened on the Rue d'Enghien in the city

It is thought the explosion took place as workers were fixing the fuel tank.

Dozens of firefighters are said to be at the scene and a medical post has been set up.

Police believe the blast may have been a workplace accident.
