Goran Pandev has sensationally backed up Joe Mourinho’s claim that the voting process for the Manager of the Year award was corrupt.

Pandev told Spanish broadcaster La Sexta his vote was for Mourinho but, according to the official list of voters on the FIFA website, the Macedonian captain’s vote went to the eventual winner, Vicente Del Bosque.

“I voted for Mourinho as best Coach of the year and I am convinced that strange things happened when the votes were counted.

“According to the FIFA list I voted for Vicente Del Bosque, but I voted for Mourinho. I even called him and said I’d vote for him. Unfortunately, odd things happen at FIFA.”

Mouinho had said previously that he was suspicious of the process, and that was why he didn’t attend the award ceremony. The Real Madrid coach said, “They called me more than once. Two or three people said they voted for me but they appeared in another vote so I decided not to go.”

FIFA has released a statement saying the voting process is honest and the votes listed on their official site are accurate.
