Irish world champion Rob Heffernan says that he is set to be handed another major championship medal.

Heffernan has revealed that he has been contacted about being promoted up to third place in the 20km walk at the 2010 European Championships after the IAAF confirmed that the Russian race walker who won the gold in Barcelona has now been handed a retrospective ban because of irregularities in his biological passport.

The Corkman, who won gold at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, finished in a time of 1:21:00 in Barcelona, with Russian Stanislav Emelyanov finishing 50 seconds ahead.
