A beautiful and spontaneous tribute was made to actor Robin Williams at an outdoor screening of Dead Poets Society in Dublin’s Merrion Square last night.
As the film drew to a close, members of the 1,000-strong audience began to take to their feet – a poignant nod to its final scene.
O Captain, My Captain. The crowd at #Happenings stands for Robin Williams in Dublin. @happenings1 https://t.co/FqYggy53HL

In one of his more famous roles, Williams plays a maverick English teacher who inspires his students through poetry.
Some people even recited the famous closing lines from the film:
1000 people chanting #ohcaptainmycaptain was #mindblowing! Thanks @Happenings1 for an inspiring #DeadPoetsSociety event! #outdoorcinema

The moment was captured by Eoin Kiernan and while there isn’t much to see you can undoubtedly feel the love and emotion. Just watch:
The screening was organised by Happenings Dublin with all proceeds from the event going to Pieta House, who helps those in suicidal distress.
