The Web Summit got off to an explosive start last night after a house fire at co-founder Paddy Cosgrave’s home.
Over 50 tech CEOs, including the founders of DropBox and Evernote, were evacuated from Mr Cosgrave’s Dublin home after a chimney flute collapsed.
The Dublin Fire Brigade Services were called to the scene after “the house started filling up with smoke”, Mr Cosgrave told Newstalk.
“Thankfully everybody survived thanks to Dublin Fire Brigade’s professionalism,” he added but admitted that the incident was a “pretty surreal” start to this year’s Summit.
The Web Summit co-founder was quick to award the fire services for their efforts and offered them free tickets to the three-day event at Dublin's RDS Arena.
