All five African sides which qualified for the 2010 World Cup have made their way to the 2014 edition and Algeria are arguably the weakest of that bunch.

The Desert Foxes made it to Brazil after pipping Burkina Faso 3 -3 on away goals in a playoff. They also finished bottom of their group at the 2013 African Cup of Nations.

Although they have matched the feat of the 1980s generation of Algerian footballers by qualifying for consecutive World Cups, they are not of that ilk.

However, they can pick from a squad which plays across Europe with players plying their trade in England, Spain, France, Portugal and Italy and will be heartened that they have been placed in a group with Belgium, Russia and South Korea, albeit a tougher group than in 2010.
