The Uruguayan FA has confirmed that it will be appealing against the 9-match international ban that has been handed out to Luis Suarez.
The Association's president Wilmar Valdez says that the punishment against their player was an "exaggerated decision".
The striker has been handed a four-month ban from all football-related activities as well as the international suspension after being found guilty of biting an opponent at the World Cup.
